Accessible and Exciting Bangkok, Thailand

Nov 30

Posted: under Uncategorized.

Bangkok may be the most vibrant destination in South-East Asia. Its charm is accessible to anyone who is not put off by its busy atmosphere. Bangkok demands that visitors dive in and enjoy the lifestyle of South-East Asia.

Bangkok is a captivating, fascinating and dynamic city with countless places to see, terrific shopping malls, a diverse and exciting nightlife, and thousands of restaurants. Since traffic is usually standing still, it is better to take the Skytrain and remain above street level. Even there, expect crowded platforms full of people shoving to board the cars.

Siam’s new beginning.
Large parts of Thailand fell under Burmese rule during the eighteenth century. After the destruction of the former Thai capital, Ayutthaya, a handful of men under the leadership of General Tak Sin went in search of a new place to establish the government of the kingdom. In 1772, they settled on Thonburi, a small town on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River. The little town was built around an important temple. The site was well protected by the river and hastily erected land walls. Tak Sin expanded the temple complex into the royal temple of Wat Arun, in honour of the goddess Aruna. Wat Arun survives today as the landmark of Bangkok.

An inglorious end.
Tak Sin ruled the Kingdom of Siam with an iron fist for ten years. Years of war transformed him into a merciless despot. He saw himself as Buddha’s successor, and demanded to be worshipped as a god. This led to rebellion and to his execution on 6 April 1782. In accordance with time-honoured custom, he was placed in a cloth bag and beaten to death, because royal blood could not be allowed to spill on the ground.

A city of temples.
Following Tak Sin’s death, Bangkok was founded anew as a different city on the opposite bank of the river. King Rama I used the old capital of Ayutthaya as a model for the construction of his new residence. There he built the Royal Palace and the Royal Temple of Wat Phra Kaeo, named after the statue of the Emerald Buddha, which Rama commanded be brought here from Wat Arun. Today, this is Thailand’s most revered image of Buddha. The area around the Royal Palace is the historic centre of present-day Bangkok, Canals, called khlongs, used to wind through and around the new capital, and much of the city’s commerce took place directly on the water. Nearly all of the khlongs were filled in during the twentieth century to allow for the expansion of the city.

All of Bangkok’s busy streets and wide boulevards were originally canals. The first bridge over the Chao Phraya River, the Memorial Bridge, was dedicated in 1932, joining Thonburi with the constantly expanding city on the opposite bank. The last of the khlongs with their colourful floating markets can still be found in Thonburi.

The face of the Bangkok metropolitan district, known as Krung Thep Mahanakhon in the Thai language, was mostly modernized in the 1980s, when an explosion of construction of high-rise buildings and skyscrapers forever altered the cityscape. The Skytrain now weaves its way through a concrete and steel jungle, with only the occasional glimpse of a golden stupa or ornately decorated palace to remind the visitor of Bangkok’s glorious past.

How Comes We Find Ladies Car Insurance Estimates Are Less Expensive Than Mens?

Nov 30

Posted: under Uncategorized.

You do not rightly sure of this but there’s a large possibility that the car insurance policy you are paying for is strictly based on your gender. Quoted car insurance estimates are at times cast by the noteworthy role on how your gender is played. You see, a lady insurer usually has significantly cheaper rates than gents when it comes to ladies car insurance.

According to the statistics available, lady insurers generally are more consistent drivers, who are noticeably less in processing for insurance claims and are tentatively less hazardous while driving their vehicles. Although, you can’t really state that when it comes to driving, all lady insurers are better drivers than blokes, but according to the statistics most car insurance companies are otherwise depending upon what they are stating, and are on that basis consequently altering their quotes drastically.

A big percentage of drivers on the streets are women. In reaction to this development, many insurance providers promote unique vehicle insurance policies for women. The good news is that you could find car insurance for females is generally significantly less expensive than other types of insurance coverage.

True, a lot of providers in the industry offer low cost automobile insurance for women with terms that are especially created for them. There is good motive why the majority insurance companies are eager to offer cheaper premiums or low cost automobile insurance for women, and it is not about gender discrimination at all. The motive for lower premiums is based on real statistics or surveys carried out amongst drivers.

The factors used to calculate cheap insurance are many and mostl put new policyholders in rating groups that catalogue a level of danger. Clearly, in one rating classification, gender, there’s a difference.

Measurement of a Man: Motors, Horse Power, Mufflers and More

Nov 30

Posted: under Uncategorized.

I have a few important men in my life that are all very distinct. In an effort to size them up, I have utilized the relationships that each of them has with cars in order to understand them a little better.

My father is outdoorsy - a geologist by profession, although now retired. Nick a rock here. Collect a fossil there. He is a man’s man, but has never shown any affection for machinery. Although brought up to be a gentleman, engines and gears had a way of bringing out the inner beast. Some of my earliest memories involve my dad hunched over some motor, cursing out the Industrial Age.

Dad would switch tires on our VW camper vans when needed, but would never have been one to fawn over chrome grill work or aftermarket center caps. He might pour some water in the radiator or dab Rust-oleum on rusted spots on our van, but scrubbing headlamps with toothbrushes or running Q-Tips around dashboard knobs were not affairs that occurred in our garage.

But Then, my father-in-law is definitely a car man. He can tell you the make, model and year of every vehicle that’s travelled down the Pennsylvania turnpike. His ideal way to pass a Saturday afternoon would be checking out a 1962 Chevy at a local Antique Club Car Show or scrubbing his own whitewalls.

He grew up in rural northern Pennsylvania and graduated rapidly from a teething ring to a pitchfork and wrench. Where he grew up, farm boys were expected to learn all they could about animal husbandry and mechanics. He has maintained his passion for gadgets, wheels, and engines, but has no interest in animals. He left the farm, never looking back, and went to college.

My husband is also a professor; just like both of our fathers, but that is the only resemblance they share. He doesn’t like to go camping, carefully cleaning his cars, or collecting rocks. He loves to spend his Saturday grading papers as he sips fancy coffee drinks at Starbucks.

He keeps his car full of gas, but would in all probability use his Ford center caps as paperweights on his desk, than as a trendy way to floss his ride. Not that he has anything against anyone who obsesses over their center caps. He vacuums his vehicle twice a year, but is content to ride about town with “Wash me!” scrawled above his rusted bumper for a year at a time.

Our daughter’s boyfriend is exactly like my father in law, but a bit more juiced. He got a high performance exhaust kit as a gift last month and has been thrilled ever since beyond his tailpipe growls deeply. You can tell that our daughter is in the throes of love when you hear her talk about how you can hear him approaching from a mile away.

Yes, men and their relationships with automobiles are complicated. Sometimes these relationships reflect an expression of a man’s maleness, while others treat vehicles as a foe - a necessary nuisance to conquer or at least endure.

Some men blaspheme their automobiles and some name them. Some men give their cars plenty of TLC while some campaign for bragging rights because their vehicle has the highest mileage or is the most beat up. Men exchange car stories over beers, just like war stories are shared at the campfire.

This is the reason the auto industry can sell billions of dollars worth of window tinting, aftermarket center caps, dashboard accessories, chrome, seat covers, rims, car alarms, backup sensors, hoods, exhausts, and decals.

Whether the wheels in the driveway are fodder for cursing or cooing, I think there’s some inevitable mechanistic mojo going on - Kind of like to “If you build it, he will come.”

Hemorrhoid Home Remedy

Nov 30

Posted: under Uncategorized.

A precise definition of hemorrhoids is difficult to find, but they can be described as masses or clumps (”cushions”) of tissue within the anal canal that contain blood vessels and the surrounding, supporting tissue made up of muscle and elastic fibers. Fortunately, hemorrhoids can be treated easily, and may be prevented in many cases. Since the condition of hemorrhoids almost always tends to worsen over time, gentle, safe and recommended treatments for hemorrhoids are advocated as soon as they occur.

Hemorrhoids bother about 89% of all Americans at some time in their lives. Hemorroids made Napoleon ride side-saddle, put star baseball player George Brett on the bench during the World Series of 1980 and put then-president Jimmy Carter in the operating room. Medical statistics show that over 67% of adults going for physical examinations are found have hemorrhoids.

It is best to treat hemorrhoids and their causes when they first show up. For everyone there is a cure for hemorrhoids that works well for them.

It is easy to find over-the-counter preparations that will afford you temporary relief. However, your goals should be to first find out what caused your hemorrhoids and remove these causitive factors, then find your effective hemorrhoid home remedy that will help you get rid of your hemorrhoids forever

You can find good treatments, even a treatment for bleeding hemorrhoids that can be effective.

Alternatively, you may elect to just ignore your hemroid problems until they get worse. Many go this route, but it is not recommended. It’s fairly easy to treat and correct hemorrhoid problems at the outset.

Neglected and left alone, the problem can grow to where it is beyond simple, easy solutions. If your hemorrhoids get bad enough, painful, expensive surgery may be your only alternative…

Disclaimer: This posting is based on information freely available in the popular press and medical journals that deal with hemorrhoids. Nothing herein is intended to be or should be construed to be medical advice. For medical advice the reader should consult with his or her physician or other medical specialist.

Reciprocal Linking is Bad for Your Business Website Health

Nov 30

Posted: under Uncategorized.

As small business owners, we need to find traffic for our websites from wherever we can get it — assuming, of course, that the source is relevant traffic. Irrelevant traffic actually HURTS your website rank in the search engines so we don’t want that. For that reason, we are not fans of reciprocal linking schemes, link farms, etc.

Case in point. I recently met with a new client in Los Angeles who needed to market their small business website. They had previously enjoyed a Page Rank of 5 for their website. Over the past two years, it has dropped to a Page Rank of 3. This was due to a number of factors, but chief among those was the fact that they had been forced into a reciprocal linking arrangement with an unscrupulous vendor. It benefited the vendor tremendously, as they were able to show the search engines that their site was being ranked to from a PR5 website; it made the vendor’s site more “buoyant” (it made it rank higher) in the search engines. The moral of the story is, be very careful if someone offers to do you the “favor” of creating a link to your site, in exchange to linking from yours. It could be detrimental to your website’s Search Engine health.

Nevertheless, you should look for opportunities to receive links from relevant websites whenever possible. It might not seem fair to “take” a link without giving one back, but there are other ways you can help the linking website. If they have a satellite website, you could consider linking to that in the body of one of your posts — relevant topic / contextual link / deep link to the satellite site. Just be careful that the link partner understands that directly linking from the satellite site to their main site will not be nearly as good as if they link in a broad circle of 10 sites before returning to the main site. This is somewhat sophisticated SEO / linking strategy that we’re sharing, so it’s not for everyone to implement on their own. It also implies that you have up to 10 web properties that are all somewhat related that can be daisy chained together… Again, not for everyone. But definitely for businesses that want to insure being on Page 1 on Google. ;)

It requires a lot of time, attention and planning to implement a 10-site daisy chain strategy, and we encourage you to go into that with plenty of forethought. Take the time to not only analyze and eliminate any chance of reciprocal linking or neighbor linking possibilities in the chain, and also insure that whomever in your organization will be managing your website network understands this strategy. A small business SEO Policy is a very smart investment in resources. It takes relatively little time for a website to fall in page rank, and a significantly greater amount of time to gain rank — especially after it is lost.

The underlying issue of Page Rank has been said to be overrated, and it’s largely a symbol of the site’s overall bouyancy in the search engines… it’s not necessarily a goal for a web owner to achieve a particular page rank; it’s more of a barometer or guideline than a definitive benchmark or landing point. The website owner with a page rank of 0 would certainly agree that a page rank of 5 would represent that his/her traffic has achieved more traffic (visitors), more conversions and more leads & sales. That’s really the benchmark we’re aiming for.
