Art Tshirts

Posted: December 10th, 2008 under Uncategorized.

If you’re looking for a really cool online store, check out ResistToday.com. They have Unique T-shirts made by independent artists. Their designs are influenced by street art.

Their newest series of screen printed art tshirts are inspired by nature. They use images and photos of branches, trees, leaves and vines and collage them into cool art. Then they screen print their art onto an American Apparel t-shirts (these shirts are soft, wear well and are made in the US).

Here’s a good quote from their web site. We’re interested in using products as a wearable and functional art medium. With so little public space available for art some of us turn to a street sign, abandon building or overpass; we think shirts and wallets are just as good of an art surface.

I love what they’re trying to do with their art. They don’t care about getting their art into big, fancy galleries; they just want real people to connect with their art and images. I like that attitude because a lot of artists only want to make art (with a capital A) and that’s limiting for a lot of regular people. Some of us don’t care for the atmosphere of art shows and museums or galleries. So, it’s cool that there are artists and stores like Resist Today that cater to a different audience.

Some of their images remind me of swindle magazine and some t-shirts I’ve seen on deviantart.

My favorite t-shirt design of theirs is called Circulate, but they have a lot of cool designs on unique wallets, art messenger bags and cool pillows! My sister’s boyfriend bought her this cute kitty tee shirt.

I love Resist Today!
