The Evolution Of The Brown Diamond

When you know how diamonds are made it is easy to see why these gems are so adored and treasured. First of all sufficient pressure and heat over a long period of time is needed to work the carbon into a brilliant diamond, but at that point the diamond still sits around ninety miles beneath the earth’s surface. The stones that work their way to the earth’s surface do so with the help of volcanoes. They are picked up by magma when it climbs up to the surface in channels and they are left on the surface.

This whole process can take thousands to millions of years and it isn’t a calm trip for the diamonds. But this isn’t the only reason diamonds are so cherished, their rare beauty and durability is what has really made them truly distinct. The manner in which they glisten in the light when they’re cut well sets them apart from all other gems. They way in which refract light makes diamonds rather vibrant and unique. As if that wasn’t plenty they are also incredibly durable, they genuinely are forever which makes them the perfect stone for symbolic jewelry like engagement rings.

It seems as if these precious gems have been prized ever since they were discovered and they will probably remain hot well into the future, probably forever. The only thing that seems to shift is the manner in which they are utilized depending on the cultural trend at the time. The most popular use of diamonds during our time has been for engagement rings, but even this is changing a bit. The traditional engagement ring has a white diamond but trends include using a color diamond for these occasions, like champagne diamond ring.

With this trend towards natural colored stones there has been increasing interest in unpolished diamonds. This type does not exhibit the glimmer of the cut version, instead it features a unique, rustic beauty. The environmental trend may be shaping jewelry trends getting us back to the basics or it could simply be the natural progression of the industry. Either way it offers an interesting mix in the jewelry world.
